Commercial real estate group Lucky Shepherd plans to open the inaugural location of its new sustainable hotel brand, Shepherd Eco, in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood.
Expected to open in 2022, the Shepherd Eco Wynwood will house 150 guestrooms and 48 residences. The LEED-certified property plans on showcasing a variety of sustainable practices, including plastic and water usage reduction, rainwater collection and rooftop hydroponic farming.
The hotel will have a spa and wellness center, an art gallery with rotating exhibitions, indoor/outdoor event space, a rooftop pool and bar, a street-level speakeasy and farm-to-table restaurant Shepherd Farms. Residential owners will have access to their own outdoor deck with tree house.
Lucky Shepherd’s hotel foray comes as a growing number of hospitality upstarts seek to put an environmentally friendly and philanthropic ethos at the heart of their brand positioning.
